Button hoping for more consistency

While Ferrari and Red Bull have notably improved over the recent races, McLaren and in particular Jenson Button appear to be going backwards.

The 2009 Formula One World Champion won the opening race of the season in Australia, taking the first 25-points of the season.

McLaren looked to have the strongest car of the field with both Ferrari and Red Bull struggling, but since that result the British driver has only scored points in two of the following five races, scoring an additional 20-points, leaving him seventh in F1 drivers championship, 31-points behind championship leader Fernando Alonso and 18-points behind team-mate Lewis Hamilton.

With such an open championship in 2012 with six different winners from the first six races, the season obviously isn't over yet.

It's a far cry from the 2011 season when Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel had already built up a 58-point lead on chasing pack, with Button 67-points behind.

But while the title race is far from over the warning signs are already there for McLaren and they have to improve if they are going to keep their noses in the title picture.

So formula1.com asked Jenson Button the all important question: What has to happen to get you winning again?

'Itís simple, I need to be quicker in qualifying and to do that I have to find a balance with the car and find consistency.' he said.

Trouble is Button has quite notably been struggling with the set-up of his car, with complaints of over-steer and under-steer at different points throughout the Spanish and Monaco Grand Prix.

Then of course in Monaco he got stuck in traffic which ends all hopes of a good points paying position, so Button will simply put past disappointments behind him and look forward to the Canadian Grand Prix in a weeks time.

'I am looking forward to that one very much.' he said. 'You can see that I am a bit frustrated right now but when I wake up tomorrow and thereís a blue sky, I will put my spirits back together again and look forward to Montreal.
