Hamilton to celebrate race win with Olympic torch?

2008 Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton has been selected to run with the Olympic torch on Monday.

Hamilton's hopes of being involved in the torch relay that stretches across the whole of the British Isles appeared to have been dashed when then event was scheduled in his home town of Stevenage on the same day as the British Grand Prix.

However organisers have reorganised things so that Hamilton can join in with the route when it travels from Luton to Oxford via Milton Keynes and Buckingham on Monday 9th July.

It would certainly be a unique way to celebrate winning the British Grand Prix?

'It will be an incredibly proud moment, I'm so honoured to have been asked to do it. Never in a million years did I think I'd get to do something so cool,' the McLaren driver told the BBC.

'I've no idea at this stage where I'll be running.

'But to be selected to do my bit for the town is a real privilege.'

The timetable for July 9th starts at Dunstable at 07:44 when the flame heads off into Buckinghamshire, via Milton Keynes, Bletchley [inc. World War II codebreaking centre Bletchley Park], Buckingham, Winslow, Whitchurch, Aylesbury, Stoke Mandeville stadium [seen as the birthplace of the Paralympics] and Waddesdon.
