Red Bull agree new deal with Webber

Red Bull Racing and driver Mark Webber have agreed a new deal which will see the Australian continue to race for the team in 2013.

Mark Webber has always worked with a one-year-contract from season to season, but this year a lot more speculation has surrounded the man who is currently second in the Formula One World Championship behind Ferrari's Fernando Alonso.

With Felipe Massa's position at Ferrari uncertain, many people in the paddock thought that Webber might be the man to replace the Brazilian and speculation really picked up momentum around the in-season testing session at Mugello, to the point where Webber had to deny that he had signed a pre-contract agreement with Ferrari.

Time continued to pass by and Webber and Red Bull both tried to play down the importance of getting a deal agreed, but the speculation kept on coming, especially in a season where Mercedes and McLaren could also have seats available for 2013.

But while the team have probably only just cleared their heads from celebrating their win at Silverstone a new deal has now been agreed and signed, ending all the speculation.

'I've been with Red Bull Racing since 2007 and have achieved nine grand prix wins during that time. I'm high on confidence at the moment and firing on all cylinders. I know the Team well and I'm very comfortable here; we have grown together over the years and it feels like absolutely the right thing to stay with Red Bull for another season. Webber said in a team statement released to the media.

Team boss Christian Horner added: 'As there was a strong desire from both sides to continue the partnership, it was a logical decision to extend our relationship and it is with great pleasure that we confirm Mark will drive for us in 2013,'
