'If It's F1, It's Vital'

Maldonado not bothered by driver comments

Williams driver Pastor Maldonado would appear to have a rather thick skin.

In the fall out of the British Grand Prix, Maldonado was branded as stupid, dangerous and lacking in respect for other drivers by Sauber's Sergio Perez.

Maldonado crashed into Perez for the second time this season during the British Grand Prix, the stewards adjudged the incident serious enough to hand him a 'double penalty', but curiously it did not involve any penalties for this weekends race.

Perez was very outspoken with his comments, revealing that all the drivers on the Formula One grid had spoken about Maldonado's aggressive driving style and while the Mexican driver didn't withdraw his comments when asked about them by the German media, he did suggest that he regretted going public with his views.

'It was an unnecessary crash, I was very angry at that moment and probably said things that I would not have liked to have said, but it is already said now, so in the end I still share my opinions from last time.' he said to Autosport Magazine.

Ahead of Free Practice getting underway in Germany, Sergio Perez indicated that he would attempt to talk to the Williams driver over the weekend, not that the Venezuelan believed there was anything to talk about.

'We spoke for two or three minutes when we went to the stewards' Maldonado said regarding Perez. 'All clear. Everybody saw that I lost the car and it was nothing intentional - even him.

'But we have been big contenders in the past, especially GP2 and here again. I understand his point; he was hungry, he lost the race but on the other side I lost my race as well. I am not here to do polemics. I am here to race, to win, to put my team at the top and to work hard with them. It doesn't matter what the other drivers are saying.'
