Button expects Hamilton to stay

Jenson Button believes that Lewis Hamilton will remain his team-mate for the foreseeable future.

Unsurprisingly following a whirlwind few days of press speculation regarding McLaren and Lewis Hamilton, Button would of course be asked about the situation as the teams and drivers arrive at the track for preparations ahead of this weekends Italian Grand Prix.

The 2009 Formula One World Champion, was simply not going to be able to avoid the questions, so Button handled the questions with his normal no nonsense, straight bat style.

'We all read newspapers, we all read magazines and we all go on the Internet, so you hear things.

'I was surprised to see what I read [Hamilton to join Mercedes] – and I also don't have a clue if there is any truth in it at all. he told Autosport Magazine.

But rather than leaving it at that point, rebuffing the questions with a simple, 'I don't know' he continued and nailed his flag to the mast.

'I think I will have the same team-mate next year.'

'This is the best choice for him, I think for all of us, if you are in the same place for too long it can get a bit stale: but this is a great team and a team that is always giving us the opportunity to fight for wins.

'I don’t think anything will change next year in terms of driver line-up, but I may be wrong.'
