Lewis Hamilton tempted by Mercedes

There have been rumours circulating for a while now about whether or not Lewis Hamilton will have a future with McLaren. Hamilton joined the team when he was a teenager and has worked hard for them. It had been thought that he would be likely to stay with them, however now it is looking like other plans are being made. Reportedly, Mercedes have been vying for his attentions, making a bid to make him their No. 1 driver. Understandably, the 27-year-old would love the chance to be able to work with Ross Brawn, the principle of the team and is seriously tempted by the offer.

In order to tempt Hamilton further, Mercedes have offered to not only match his current deal but also give him bonuses that could raise his paycheck to £60million over three years. This would certainly give him enough money to live a very comfortable lifestyle, buying presents for friends or playing a lot of party poker. In contrast to this impressive offer, McLaren are said to be offering him considerably less than his current contract to stay with them, with just £15million a year. This has reportedly been a big disappointment to the 2008 world champion and therefore it seems unlikely that he will want to stay with them.

While his representatives are currently still negotiating with McLaren, Hamilton will be able to make the final decision regarding his fate. The chance to work with Mercedes is clearly a bit opportunity for the driver. Brawn has previously worked with Michael Schumacher, helping him win seven world titles at Benetton and Ferrari, as well as helping Jenson Button to the 2009 drivers' title. It may be time for a change for Hamilton and if he does move to Mercedes, hopefully he will be provided with good enough cars to win even more titles.
