Sutil set for Formula One return

Twelve months ago Force India dropped Adrian Sutil for Nico Hulkenberg ahead of the upcoming 2012 Formula One World Championship.

The move made sense at the time Hulkenburg was an upcoming young driver who had been impressing everyone, whilst Sutil was grabbing more headlines off the track than on it after he attacked Lotus team co-owner Eric Lux with a champagne glass during a fight in a Shanghai nightclub following the 2011 Chinese Grand Prix.

The 29-year-old German driver was later found guilty of bodily harm and was given an 18-month suspended sentence and fined 200,000 euros.

Twelve months on and with Hulkenberg moving on from Force India to Sauber the team are once again looking for a new team-mate to pair up with Paul Di Resta.

Three drivers who have left their 2012 teams have been linked with the seat, which includes Williams' Bruno Senna, Sauber's Kamui Kobayashi and Caterham's Heikki Kovalainen, whilst Force India's reserve driver Jules Bianchi has also been linked with the step-up.

But rumours are now suggesting that Sutil is set for a return to Formula One and his former team.

'The announcement should take place next week, Adrian looks the best bet to partner di Resta as he has got the required experience in Formula One. At the same time, Mr. Mallya also considered all other available options.' A source from within Force India told the Indo-Asian News Service as quoted by Sky Sports.

Once Force India confirm their driver line-up for 2013 then that will leave only a handful of seats that are still available on the grid.

Red Bull, Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes and Williams have all officially confirmed their teams for next season.

Sauber, Toro Rosso and Lotus are all but confirmed but they have not finalised their driver numbers with the FIA [Grosjean is expected to remain with Lotus despite no announcement].
