Maldonado refuses to change

Pastor Maldonado was a record breaker for Williams throughout the 2012 Formula One World Championship.

As much as the Venezuelan will be remembered for winning the Spanish Grand Prix, Williams's first Grand Prix victory since 2004 he will also be remembered for receiving the most penalties of any driver in a single season.

In total Maldonado received 14 penalties which resulted in a number of drive through penalties, time penalties, grid penalties and fines for both driving offences and gearbox changes.

In September he did state to the media that: 'I have been penalised quite a lot, We need to try to do something different to be away from the stewards.'

And coincidentally he went on to finish in the top ten in three of the final six races of the season after only finishing in the top ten twice in the first fourteen races.

But it seems that Maldonado has had time to think over the winter and he will not be abandoning his robust racing style in 2013.

'Yes, I've had run-ins with other drivers, not only now, but in the past,' he told Spanish newspaper Marca as quoted by Sky Sports.

'But I have won in each of the categories in which I have competed and, every time I walk down the hallway in my house and see everything I've achieved with this style, I think I should continue.'

'Every year we [the Williams team] are improving and [in 2013] it will be a better car, It's never easy to give 100 per cent at all times, but it gives me strength to keep going because you can always improve, always give more.'
