'If It's F1, It's Vital'
Glock leaves Marussia
In Germany over the weekend speculation regarding Timo Glock's future with Marussia appeared to suggest that he would leave Formula One before the start of the new season.
That has now been confirmed by the team.
Reports began in German newspaper The Bild, that the German could leave Formula One with a move to DTM [German Touring Cars] the mostly likely destination, possibly with BMW.
The timing of the move is probably the most bizarre aspect of the decision. He had extended his contract with Marussia until the end of 2014 and was set to lead the team alongside new team-mate Max Chilton.
But instead his contract has been terminated by mutual consent, ending a Formula One career that began at the 2004 Canadian GP.
He has driven previously driven for Jordan and Toyota. While his best position was two second place finishes at the 2008 Hungarian Grand Prix and the 2009 Singapore GP.
His departure leave three seats still available for the 2013 Formula One World Championship, with the other two at Caterham and Force India.
