'If It's F1, It's Vital'

Force India keep open mind for 2013

The Force India team have unveiled their new car for the 2013 FIA Formula One World Championship. But they are refusing to reveal just who will be sat in the car.

Britain's Paul Di Resta has been confirmed but following Nico Hulkenburg's move from Force India to Sauber the team are yet to announce who will be the Brit's team-mate.

With the first winter test in Jerez starting tomorrow, everyone in the paddock thought they might announce their second driver when they unveiled their new VJM06. But instead the team have clearly stated that they will not make a decision for at least another couple of weeks, which would be when the second test in Barcelona is set to get under way.

Force India's 2012 reserve driver Jules Bianchi, who was not at the Force India launch, but was present at Ferrari's unveiling, has been linked with the seat throughout the winter, as has former driver Adrian Sutil.

'Jules is a significant candidate for what we're doing, along with Adrian [Sutil] and a few others,' Force India's Deputy team principal Bob Fernley told Autosport Magazine.

On to the car itself and much like the previous launches of the Lotus and McLaren, to the naked eye there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of difference between the 2012 Force India and the new car.

Minimal regulation changes in Formula One have meant an evolution to last years cars, although the Force India has certainly gone up in the looks department as it has ditched it's broken nose design of last year.

Speaking to the BBC Team principal Vijay Mallya added: 'The VJM06 doesn't look massively different to its predecessor, but beneath the skin we've looked at every detail to try and find more performance,'

'The objective now is to make sure we build on the promise of last year and have a strong start to the season.'
