'If It's F1, It's Vital'

VIDEO: Sauber unveil new car

Sauber enjoyed a fantastic season in Formula One last year.

The Swiss team finished on the podium four times and finished sixth in the 2012 Formula One World Constructors championship.

They may have lost Mexican driver Sergio Perez to McLaren, but they have probably strengthened their overall driver line-up for 2013 with the capture of Force India's Nico Hulkenbury and the promotion of Esteban Gutierrez.

Monisha Kaltenborn heads into her first full season as the teams principal and the changes around the team are clear to see.

The problem is, how do you improve on such a good season?

To break into the top five Sauber would have to regularly beat the likes of Mercedes and Lotus who both have ambitions themselves of challenging the big three of McLaren, Ferrari and Red Bull.

But despite it looking a big challenge, that's the target Sauber have set themselves with their new 2013 car.

'We have very high expectations and both of them know that,' Kaltenborn told the BBC.

On to the car design and the C32 on launch day unveiled a new black livery, despite few changes in sponsors. While some teams have moved away from the broken nose design Sauber have kept their's although it is slightly disguised with raised sides leaving a smooth finish.

This is obviously not to make it more aesthetically pleasing but is an aerodynamic move to keep the airflow consistent over the car.
