F1 Prediction Competition - Round 6

The new Formula One season is under way and so is the new VitalF1 prediction competition.

Brilliant in its simplicity, join today to show everyone just how great your knowledge of the sport is!

Don't worry about playing catch-up, there are still plenty of races to get involved in during this season and the Vital F1 Championship has never been decided prior to the final race of the season!

Get your friends to join in and have a mini competition for bragging rights throughout the course of the new season, with points and race wins at stake.

So why not join in and give it a go!

For every race you select two drivers who will score you points.

Every race has its own individual thread so predictions will only be taken from these threads on our Prediction Competition Forum.

To post you will need to Join Vital F1

Race weekend predictions must be made before Qualifying starts.

* You cannot alter your prediction once it is made (first prediction will be used).

Points will be awarded as follows...

1st : 25 points

2nd : 18 points

3rd : 15 points

4th : 12 points

5th : 10 points

6th : 8 points

7th : 6 points

8th : 4 points

9th : 2 points

10th : 1 point

The points will be awarded on the 'cross the line' unofficial results (not classified results), to avoid complicating the points by having to amend them when the inevitable F1 politics come into play following post-race time penalties and/or disqualifications.

For some races we will not just be predicting 1st - 10th place, but for some races it will be 4th-13th or 10th-19th etc [with all drivers who finish outside of the stated points places scoring zero].

To enable people to enter while they are away for any period of time, we have already selected what to predict for each race in advance, so if you wish to predict a couple of races at a time, or if you're brave and want to predict the whole season from the start, you can!

Standings and scoring

Standings are decided in points order.

If points are level, the position is settled on who has the most 'race wins'. A 'race win' is awarded to the user who outscored all the other entries for that race (in the case of a draw, all drawn users will receive a 'race win').

If points are still level, the position is given to the user who entered the game first.

2013 Competition so far

42 racers entered the Australian Grand Prix, with the notable exception of last seasons championship winner northstandmark, who claimed the title on the final race of the season from 2012 long-standing leader The Intimidator.

Previous Champions Adelaide Blue and DJ returned in a bid to re-take the title.

But it was returning racer Mr Alcatraz who failed to score a single point in 2011 when he last entered who took the first race win of the season, scoring maximum points for predicting Alonso & Raikkonen.

The field swelled to 48 entrants in Malaysia including 2012 champ northstandmark who returned to defend his title.

Both Bognor Red and RaceRalph took maximum points for predicting a Red Bull 1-2 with the latter taking the lead in the title picture.

Amazingly eleven entrants took maximum points in China, which left the top two unchanged with both taken their second race wins of the season.

For race four in Bahrain, SHG and Bognor Red took their second race wins of the season to both climb into the top five of the overall standings. But raceralph held on to the lead for another week.

Bognor Red took back-to-back race wins in Spain with Championship leader raceralph and DJ taking 40 points in Barcelona.

2013 Top 5 Standings

2 . Mr Alcatraz - 177 - 2

3 . SHG - 171 - 2

4 . Bognor Red - 167 - 3

5 . Adelaide Blue - 163 - 1
