Williams interest in Brawn?

For anyone who caught Ted Kravitz's Notebook over the weekend in Abu Dhabi you will have seen two excellently relaxed interviews as the Sky Sports pundit walked around the paddock during the race weekend.

With Ross Brawn's perhaps imminent departure from Mercedes as the main talking point of the Grand Prix weekend, questions were always going to be asked.

Just where will he go if he does decide to leave Mercedes? And it certainly appears to be Brawn's decision to walk as Mercedes who may have wanted to ease him out of the team at the start of the season appear to have changed their minds.

So where will he go too? The easy connection would be to link him up with McLaren due to the partnership with Honda set to commence for the 2015.

But when Honda withdrew from Formula One, leaving Brawn to buy-out the team [which evolved into Mercedes], apparently Brawn and Honda didn't depart on good terms.

That said, Kimi Raikkonen didn't depart Ferrari on good terms either and yet they're reconciling their differences for next season.

Another option could be Williams, with the rumour mill already linking Brawn with a buy-out of Toto Wolff shares in the team and Kravitz put that question to Deputy team principal of the Williams F1 Formula One racing team Claire Williams, who in her lovely style, basically told him to go and ask her Dad.

So when Kravitz spotted Sir Frank on Sunday, he asked the question.

'Naively, perhaps, I am unaware that Ross is available,' Sir Frank Williams told Sky Sports.

'When he was with us he was really extraordinarily clever in terms of engineering - he is very gifted - and I am sure he has accumulated infinitely more knowledge, just as much about what not to do as much as what he should be doing. So if he was to come he would be a great addition.

'I wasn't aware he was available. I have made no effort to contact him and I can say no more.

'The reason I am being hesitant is that I do employ people already and it is very unlikely that we could afford Ross, or that he would want to come to us etc, etc and all I would be doing if we didn't get Ross would be offending everyone at the team already.'

So there you have it, probably a no, but not a definitive one.
