Hamilton Wins Thrilling Chinese Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton passed Sebastian Vettel with 5 laps to go to win a thrilling Chinese Grand Prix.

There were nervous scenes just before the race start as the McLaren team had to deal with a fuel leak but they managed to get the car working just in time to position it on the grid for the formation lap.

Vettel got off to a poor start, losing his pole position place going into the first corner as Button led from his team-mate.

Mark Webber enjoyed an excellent surge through the field from 18th for an incredible 3rd place finish after overtaking Jenson Button in the penultimate lap.

Lewis Hamilton then lost some ground on the chasing pack in the opening round of pit stops as Nico Rosberg led for Mercedes after starting from 4th.

Scottish rookie Paul Di Resta had another solid race in the Force India car as once again he finished ahead of his team mate Adrian Sutil who was dealt with a drive through penalty late on.

The race was full of incidents in every single lap, with so much happening at the front there was barely any time to take notice of what was happening further down the field.

The new Pirelli tyres provided the excitement as clearly the 3-stop strategy was the best - as Lewis Hamilton benefited from an extra set of tyres after saving them in qualifying yesterday. The McLaren driver was down in 5th in the later part of the race but his extra grip and overtaking confidence saw him make the vital passes on Felippe Massa, Jenson Button, Nico Rosberg and Championship leader Sebastian Vettel for the win.

One incident we can't ignore is Jenson Button stopping at the wrong pitlane, stopping before the McLaren garage at Red Bull before quickly realising his mistake and moving forward a few yards which cost him some vital seconds, as Vettel was able to get out ahead of him.
