'If It's F1, It's Vital'

Team Lotus continue to wait

Team Lotus boss Tony Fernandes has no immediate plans to change the name of his team following the purchase of Caterham.

When asked about whether or not the name Caterham could be used for a possible rebranding of the team due to the current name dispute with Group Lotus, Team Lotus boss Tony Fernandes said: 'I don't know yet, to be honest,'

The takeover of Caterham was confirmed on Wednesday and many have speculated that this could be a hint towards a team rebrand if they lose their legal dispute over the Lotus name.

Speaking to Autosport Magazine he continued: 'I am waiting to see what happens with the case, and all these sort of things. But an ideal scenario would be a marriage of the two.

'The ideal world is both. People have said that Lotus has its own F1 team, but so what? There is Manchester United and Manchester City.

'People will come to understand what each brand stands for, and say - we want this, or we want that. It is no different to me, and I really hope we can keep both.'
.

Fernandes did confirm that his AirAsia GP2 team would be rebranded as Caterham in the future.

The GP2 season starts next week in Turkey and Fernandes hopes that if regulations allow, the new name for the team will be AirAsia Caterham GP2.

Luiz Razia and Davide Valsecchi have been named as the teams drivers for the 2011 season.
