Rosberg's job is not in jeopardy says Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton doesn't believe that Mercedes boss Toto Wolff's recent comments were aimed solely at Hamilton and Rosberg.

Since the end of the 2015 Formula One World Championship season, where Mercedes picked up their second consecutive F1 constructors title and Lewis Hamilton won his third Formula One World Championship, team boss Toto Wolff has been throwing around the threat that he could drop either Hamilton or Rosberg from the team if the relationship between their pilots worsens further.

The German manufacturer have dominated the sport since the introduction of the new V6 Turbo-Hybrid engines were introduced for the 2014 season.

However the camp is far from harmonious, the two drivers, who were once friends whilst growing up are now fierce rivals and it would appear that this has caused frictions within the team itself.

The situation has been put under the spotlight by Wolff who has now taken it upon himself to mention on a number of occasions throughout December.

Mentioning it once just to grab the attention of the drivers to make them think about it over the winter is one thing, but saying it numerous times in the public domain? Wolff clearly wanted a response from both Hamilton and Rosberg.

Wolff has even refused to comment on Nico Rosberg's current contract which runs until the end of the 2016 Formula One World Championship season.

However three-time Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton does not believe that either he, or Rosberg's future at Mercedes is in doubt and the Brit believes the comments were aimed at the rest of the team just as much as the drivers.

'We are grown men and we have done the job that we are hired to do to the maximum, We've not done it 95 per cent or 80 per cent, we've done it 100 per cent to how they've wanted us to do it.

'Has there been friction? Of course, you can't have it perfect always. But have we always shone light on this team? I believe so. Have we always delivered when they've given us the opportunity to do so? I believe so.'
Hamilton told Sky Sports Italia.

'Nico's job is not in jeopardy and neither is mine.'

'I think it is easy for people to get complacent in life and I think it is important as a team we don't get complacent, We've had two incredibly successful years and when you complain about small things I think that is when you can easily lose your way. Of course we always want to be better and perfect, but as long as we stay together and continue to communicate I think it will be good.'
