Ecclestone considering India switch
Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone is considering an end of season calendar shuffle in order to make room for the Bahrain Grand Prix.
The scheduled season opener in Bahrain was cancelled following political unrest in the region.
But despite the logistical nightmare that trying to rearrange the event brings, F1 appears to be desperate to create a window to boost the season back up to the planned 20 races for 2011.
It had previously been assumed that the easiest option was to drop the race in after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and before the finale in Brazil. But it now appears that Bernie has other plans with a possible switch with the Indian Grand Prix.
'We are having a look at it. Everything is possible,' Ecclestone told the BBC.
'I'm not sure at the moment what I'm going to do. Everything's up in the air.
'I haven't decided. We'll see if we have to go to Bahrain.'
The decision whether the event in Bahrain will go ahead has been put off until June 3rd when the FIA will rule on whether Bahrain should return to the calendar. If they give it the green light, Ecclestone will then consider his options, which could include going to Bahrain before the Abu Dhabi race on October 30th and making the Indian Grand Prix the last race of the season on December 4th.
