'If It's F1, It's Vital'

Sky and Channel 4 announce F1 races for 2017

The 2017 Formula One World Championship will be co-broadcasted by both Sky Sports and Channel 4 in the UK.

It's the penultimate year of Channel 4's contract to broadcast 10 live Grand Prix a season as F1 will drop behind the paywall in 2019, as Formula One becomes exclusive to Sky Sports.

But in 2017 and 2018, Formula One fans will still be able to watch half the season live and half the season on extended highlights packages on Channel 4.

For 2017, Channel 4 viewers will also get to see the jewel in the Formula One crown as the Monaco Grand Prix has been selected for the first time since 2012 as neither Channel 4 or BBC selected that race in previous seasons.

Looking at other changes in comparison to the 2016 season, the Spain, Hungarian, Italian and Mexican Grand Prix will be exclusive to Sky Sports but the Singapore and the United States Grand Prix will be shown in Channel 4.

All that means is the opening two Grand Prix of the season the Australian and Chinese Grand Prix will be only available on Sky Sports live, whilst from the final three races of the season only the season finale in Abu Dhabi will be live on Channel 4.

The 10 races not shown live by Channel 4 will be shown via extended highlights.

From the opening Grand Prix of the year to the season's home-stretch, Sky Sports F1 remains the definitive place for fans to see every twist and turn of the season.' Sky Sports Head of Formula 1 Martin Turner told Sky Sports.
