'If It's F1, It's Vital'
Webber wants to remain at Red Bull
Mark Webber has given his first clear indication that he wants to remain with Red Bull Racing for next season.
The 34-year-old Australian is currently on a rolling year-by-year contract at Red Bull and neither he or the team had previously discussed whether he would stay with the team for next year.
Instead of committing to a long term deal like they have done with current Formula One World champion Sebastian Vettel, team principal Christian Horner wanted to review Webber's performance this season before making a decision and it would appear that Webber has done enough to convince him that he should remain with the team.
'Mark has made it clear that he wants to drive next year, and conversations with Mark tend to be quite straightforward.' Horner told Autosport Magazine.
'As far as the future is concerned we agree to take things one step at a time and at the appropriate time we will sit down and talk about the future.'
'but we are very happy with him in the team.'
Sebastian Vettel has started the defence of his World title with five wins from the opening six races and Webber would appear to have struggled in comparison, 64 points adrift of his team-mate.
