'If It's F1, It's Vital'
Vettel hits 'Wall of Champions'
Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel brought out the red flag during yesterday evening's first practice session after the German ploughed his front end into the wall.
'I lost the rear, but by the time I hit the wall I had low speed, so the crash was quite mild. There wasn't much damage.' the current Formula One World champion told Autosport Magazine.
Vettel missed the remainder of the first session but was involved in the second session, so the incident will have had limited impact on his race weekend.
'It's a special circuit here, it's quite rough with the kerbs and chicanes, but I like it. The target is to win, but it's a long weekend and a lot of things can happen. It's important to finish and do your best, whatever that is.' Vettel added.
The wall which Vettel crashed into has been handed the nickname 'The Wall Of Champions' following incidents involving former Formula One World champions, Damon Hill, Michael Schumacher, Jacques Villeneuve and Jenson Button (although he did hit it before he become F1 champ).
Other motor sport champions have also fallen victim to the wall that carries the slogan 'Bienvenue au Québec' (Welcome to Quebec in English), FIA GT sports car champion Ricardo Zonta, Indy Car champion Juan Pablo Montoya and GP2 champion Nico Rosberg have all hit the same wall.
