Hamilton plays down Red Bull talks

Lewis Hamilton has played down rumours that he is thinking about ditching the McLaren team for Red Bull.

The British driver who won the 2008 Formula One World championship with McLaren has been with the team since he was a child, but over the past few months speculation has suggested that he could make the move to Red Bull.

Before the season started Red Bull boss Christian Horner was forced to answer hypothetical questions over whether Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel could ever coexist in the same team and now following a reported 15 minute chat between Hamilton and Horner at Montreal last weekend, Hamilton has been asked why the chat took place.

'I know all the managers, the bosses and I know lots of people at the teams, I know Stefano Domenicali [Ferrari team principal] and we chat all the time, with Norbert Haug [Mercedes vice-president] we chat all the time, and Christian [Horner, Red Bull team principal].'

'When I was going from Formula 3 to GP2 I had a meeting with Christian, when he was running the Red Bull team back in Formula 3000 I think it was.

'But I know everyone, so I speak to all the people during the weekend.'
Hamilton told the BBC, while Hamilton's agency XIX Entertainment added: 'Neither Lewis nor his management team have had any discussions with regard to moving team,'

If Hamilton was considering a move, it wouldn't take place until 2013 and with the scheduled changes in regulations, it probably wouldn't be a wise move to commit to a team just yet if you can keep your options open.

However Hamilton has grown up around the McLaren team, so while they prove to be competitive, it's probably unlikely Hamilton would consider a move (we think, but nothing in F1 surprises us so who knows!)
