Vettel becomes a record breaker

This will hopefully be the shortest race report of the season because quite simply the European Grand Prix at Valencia didn't really produce much to write about.

The most interesting fact that anyone can take from this race is that Sebastian Vettel has become the first driver in Formula One to finish in the top two places in all of the opening eight rounds of a championship.

The reigning Formula One World champion won probably his easiest race of the season, starting from pole and only losing the lead when out of sequence on the pit stops.

The win was his sixth of the season and gives him a 77 point lead over Jenson Button.

The only interesting battle in the race was between Red Bull's Mark Webber and Ferrari's Fernando Alonso who battled for second. They swapped positions a couple of times during the race, before Alonso took control of the position on the final round of pit-stops and Webber struggled with his gear box to end any hope of a final few laps of any kind of excitement.

McLaren's Lewis Hamilton finished fourth in what he would probably describe as a very dull race, the former champ didn't really get the chance to race/collide with anyone. When asked by his team to look after his tyres he told them he couldn't go any slower, then when he was told to speed up, he told them he couldn't go any quicker, that pretty much summed up his race.

Felipe Massa came home in fifth, while Jenson Button suffered a KERS failure on his McLaren finished sixth.

All 24 cars finished the race, perhaps another interesting fact to end this report with, not that it made it any more interesting.

How can you take anything away from vettel or his team. He drove without a mistake, they planned and reacted perfectly.
