'If It's F1, It's Vital'

Vettel the only man to leave Valencia happy?

There wasn't a huge amount to discuss after the European Grand Prix in Valencia.

As ever the track and scenery looked great (it even served up some good racing in the earlier GP2 and GP3 races, especially the GP3 races, so try and catch those on Eurosport if it's repeated), but the Formula One race was as dull as previous years.

Even the new Pirelli compound tyres served up little to get excited about, while a double DRS zone failed to produce many overtaking manoeuvres.

In short, it lacked excitement, controversy and practically everything we had witnessed in the previous races of the 2011 season, except one thing, Sebastian Vettel coming out on top.

'From the outside, I'm not sure if it seemed that much was happening in the race, but I enjoy it so much when it's between you and the car on every single lap. he told formula1.com after the race.

'Of course, I had pressure from behind, especially as the strategy was a little bit different with Mark [Webber] and Fernando [Alonso] - sometimes they were pitting earlier and sometimes later. I had a gap before the first pit-stop, but I came out very close to them, so again I had to push hard while judging the tyres and trying to imagine what the end of the stint might be like.

'You are trying to foresee the strategy, so every single lap it's between you and the car. I enjoy this track a lot, last year I had a very smooth weekend here and again this year too. It's fantastic, the team has done a phenomenal job preparing the car. Even though we come here every year and think it may be tricky for us, as there are no real fast corners, we managed to come here and have a faultless weekend. I'm obviously very happy with the result.'

It's pretty clear that the spectators are less than happy with the Valencia track, with some BBC F1 viewers calling for the race to be scrapped on the BBC's red button forum after the race.

As has been said it was a procession. I personally dislike the venue. But to be fair vetel gave a masterclass. Lets hope its the only Boring race of the season. Was a little worried about the negativity coming out of McLaren. They seem to have more than their fair share of probs
