Race-by-Race for Red Bull

Sebastian Vettel has all but wrapped up the 2011 Formula One World championship.

The Red Bull driver has a 77 point lead over nearest rival Jenson Button in the championship standings.

With eleven races to go, it wouldn't be difficult to comprehend that they might consider playing it safe, working on averages to take the title.

Vettel could afford to lose virtually seven points every race to McLaren's Jenson Button and still clinch the title (assuming no-one else overtook Button of course).

'I don't know how many points there are available, There are a lot of points on the board available and up for grabs, so you can never say never.' Red Bull team boss Christian Horner told Autosport Magazine.

But while you may imagine that due to the sheer embarrassment that it would bring to both Vettel and Red Bull if they failed to go on and clinch the championship, playing it safe isn't the mind-set at Red Bull and they will continue to try and win every race.

'Our focus is race-by-race: to go and maximise our performance and get the best out of each weekend we can. This weekend we came within three points of a maximum score, and we have had both cars on the podium.'

'[Vettel] and the team have got themselves into a strong position but, as we know, there is such a long way to go in this championship, and who knows what the effect of the regulation clarification - it is not a change – could be for Silverstone.
