Pirelli stick with tyre choice for Silverstone

Pirelli have decided to stick with their previously nominated tyre compounds for the British Grand Prix.

After the very dull European Grand Prix at Valencia, Pirelli no doubt would have taken a look at the data that they have collected over the season to date and analysed everything they could to determine which Pirelli PZero tyre compounds would be best suited to the Silverstone track.

The Italian tyre manufacturer has taken a large amount of praise for what they have brought to the 2011 Formula One season in terms of different tyre strategy and racing on the track, but all of that vanished in Valencia!

Lets hope the excitement returns at Silverstone with Pirelli going for the Hard tyre and Soft compounds.

They have also announced that for the German Grand Prix at the Nurburgring the tyres available will be the Medium and the Soft compounds, while at the Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring teams will have the Soft and Super-Soft compounds.

“Our nominations are designed to maximise the opportunities for strategy and find the right compromise between performance and durability,” Pirelli's motorsport director Paul Hembery told formula1.com.

“For Silverstone, we are confirming the decision we took a few weeks ago, after once more consulting all the teams, and for the next two races we have arrived at what we feel to be the best solution based on the information that we have so far.

“As has been the case up to now this year, we think that there will be quite a wide variety of different strategies for the next three Grands Prix, but for all the races it’s reasonably hard to predict how many pit stops there will be: it ultimately depends on the strategy and strengths of each individual car and team.”
