'If It's F1, It's Vital'

Schumacher will race on

Seven-time Formula One World champion Michael Schumacher will race on in 2012.

With the German driver consistently beaten over the past 2 years by his younger team-mate in Nico Rosberg, there had been speculation that Schumacher would retire for a second time.

But the Mercedes driver remains determined to see out his contract which confirms he will continue to race next season.

'I am here for an achievement and a fixed target. I always said it was a three-year programme and that's what it is.' Schumacher told the BBC.

Mercedes team boss Ross Brawn had previously revealed that Schumacher had a get-out clause in his contract which would enable him to leave at the end of the season and many thought that with Schumacher not living up to his own high expectations that he would walk away.

'Naturally I took a while to get back into the habit of the whole working arrangement. That is a lot more easy for me now, but I am still learning how to work with the team and to get the car to work for me.

'I am still not yet at 100%, but you might say you will never be.'

While Schumacher may not have shown his previous unbeatable best since his return, it has been fantastic to see the most successful driver return to the sport to give the young guns a run for their money.

Lets hope that Mercedes can offer him a car next season which will bring the best out of him for his final farewell.

Feel that he really should retire. The young guns are hunting him down every race now. His seat should be given to someone up & coming or a better existing driver

If MB can't get Vettel, then Schumi will stay. He should retire though as he is only spoiling his brand. A good young un will usually beat a good old un in any sport, also true in F1.
