Red Bull talks positive according to Webber

Mark Webber's career with Red Bull might not be coming to an end like many expected.

His contract ends at the end of the season and Red Bull have been linked with a number of new drivers, while Webber has played down that he was set to commit to another year with the team a few weeks ago.

Then of course the British Grand Prix came around with Webber being instructed to 'maintain the gap' behind team-mate and championship leader Sebastian Vettel by Red Bull team principal Christian Horner.

Webber dully ignored the instructions and raced Vettel for second place until the final lap.

Many assumed the incident would probably be the beginning of the Australian's final chapter with the team.

After all when you confess to ignoring specific instructions from your team boss how exactly do you come back from that?

Well apparently you have a little chat over tea and biscuits and agree to disagree like adults and then hold 'positive talks' over a new contract.

'The team and I are talking about whether I continue with Red Bull in 2012 and it's positive.

'What happened on Sunday does not turn my world upside down.' Webber wrote in his column for the BBC Sport website.

'Christian and I had a chat about the situation after the race. We both put our cases forward and I think we came away seeing it from both perspectives.

'It was obviously a difficult situation but I still feel comfortable about what I did.

'In that situation, you are hit by conflicting emotions. You want to improve your position, irrespective of who it is in front of you.' he added.

A recent poll on VitalF1.com would suggest that if Webber was to stay with the team for 2012 then most would be surprised.
