'If It's F1, It's Vital'

Chandhok replaces Trulli for German Grand Prix

Lotus reserve driver Karun Chandhok will replace Jarno Trulli at the Nurburgring this weekend for the German Grand Prix.

Trulli has struggled with this years Lotus, but do no think that this is the end, as the Italian driver will be back for the Hungarian Grand Prix where Lotus plan to have a new power-steering system which will aid the 37-year-old.

So far this season Chandhok has only been involved in four Friday practice sessions and hasn't raced in Formula One since the British Grand Prix of 2010.

But as part of the agreement when he joined the team, Chandhok was promised his chance to impress and this weekend he has it. He is also expected to re-take the seat for the inaugural Indian Grand Prix in October.

'I want to thank Tony Fernandes, Kamarudin Meranun and SM Nasarudin for giving me the chance to race this weekend for Team Lotus.' Chandhok told the press.

'Ever since I first joined the team I have been looking forward to this opportunity and I am determined to do my best to repay their faith in me.

'I know there will be millions of Indian fans, and Team Lotus fans around the world, who will be behind me and the whole team, so I will do the best I can to give them something to cheer for.'

27-year-old Chandhok is probably one of the most popular drivers in the paddock with a very likeable personality and someone who is obviously a huge Formula One fan and through his work commentating on BBC Radio 5Live is sure to have a lot of British fans supporting him this weekend.
