Mid-pack battle heating up

The battle in Formula One doesn't begin and end with the teams at the front of the grid.

The fight between the mid-pack runners is just as intense and no more so than between Sauber and Force India.

Sauber currently edge the battle, holding sixth place in the Formula 1 constructors' world championship, 9-points ahead of Force India.

But Sauber believe that we could be about to see a momentum swing towards Force India, with the Mercedes powered team looking strong going into races at Spa and Monza.

'I think Force India have definitely made a step, they look quite strong and they have got some potentially strong events coming up, Spa and Monza, so we need to react a bit to what they've done and we are,' Sauber's technical director James Key told Autosport Magazine.

'We've got packages and stuff on the way. We have to see. I think from our side our consistency isn't brilliant, we go to certain tracks and conditions where we know we are going to have trouble, and other circumstances where it is good and we probably have to keep more consistency to try and fight with Renault and Force India.'

Renault are currently fifth in the standings and hold a 31-point lead over Sauber.

The surprise package could turn out to be Toro Rosso.

The Red Bull sister team are currently in ninth, well ahead of Williams and just 4-points behind Force India.

Drivers Jaime Alguersuari and Sebastien Buemi have consistently scored points this season, only failing to score points on four occasions.
