'If It's F1, It's Vital'

Schumacher will race on in 2012

Michael Schumacher has once again stated that he will compete in Formula One next season.

Last month the German Mercedes driver confirmed that he would continue racing, despite consistently being beaten over the past 2 years by his younger team-mate in Nico Rosberg.

Despite his comments the speculation has continued and Schumacher has once again confirmed his desire to race in 2012.

'Despite some funny rumours and stupid untruthful stories, I keep repeating myself that you will have to see me in 2012, whether you like it or don't like it,' mercedes-gp.com

One reason why the rumours continue is that previously Mercedes team boss Ross Brawn had stated that Schumacher had a get-out clause in his contract which would enable him to leave at the end of the season if he wanted too, but clearly that isn't the case.

'I will be there. And the good thing is that I have a lot of support from all around, in particular from the company, in particular from the team, that they all wish me to be there, so I wish to be there, and I look forward to it.'

'I'm still fit enough. I'm still mentally ready for it. And I like a challenge.'

Following comments from Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali our current poll on Vital F1 is; Who was best, Schumacher at his peak or Fernando Alonso?

Currently despite Domenicali believing that Alonso is better, 75% have gone with the record books and backed seven-time Formula One World champion Michael Schumacher.

Shows that mercedes don't really have much ambition. More interested in the sponsorship money. He ain't going to win another gp before he leaves altogether. Nico must be shaking his head, reckon that should an offer come from another big team he'll be off
