'If It's F1, It's Vital'

McLaren are not quitters

The Formula One title race might look all but over, but it would seem no-one will give up on the crown until it is mathematically a certainty.

We've already read comments that Ferrari haven't given up hope and the same goes for McLaren, with Whitmarsh aiming for more wins for British duo Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button.

'winning races is tough, but I think all you can do is try to win every race, and you can't do more than that. It is difficult to pull back the gap, but it's possible.' McLaren boss Martin Whitmarsh told Autosport Magazine.

Defending F1 title holder Vettel may have an 83-point championship lead over team-mate Mark Webber, with McLaren's Lewis Hamilton 88-points behind in third and Ferrari's Fernando Alonso a further 1-point behind in fourth, but Whitmarsh insists that McLaren are simply concentrating on one race at a time.

'Of course people focus on the championship, but I think if you are not leading the championship then you can't worry too much about it.

'I'd like a one-two and it'd be handy if a Red Bull was not the third car on the podium if we get a one-two, and so we'd welcome Ferrari on the podium as well. We never give up. We've never been a quitter and this time isn't one.

'Whatever happens we are going to try to win every race and that's the great challenge.'

Despite Vettel and Red Bull dominating at the front of the grid, this season has still proved to be very entertaining and interesting and while a McLaren or a Ferrari revival might be too late for the Championship, it should lead for some very intriguing races once the teams return from their summer break!
