'If It's F1, It's Vital'
Karthikeyan's return confirmed
Indian driver Narain Karthikeyan's return to the cockpit has now been confirmed by HRT.
Two weeks ago it was reported that a new sponsorship deal with Hero Motors had been agreed specially for the inaugural Indian Grand Prix on October 30th.
The idea behind the deal was to get Narain Karthikeyan back behind the wheel for his home Grand Prix.
Karthikeyan who has a wealth of motorsport experience having raced in British Formula 3, A1GP and Le Mans, has made 26 Formula One starts in his career to-date, with a best finish of fourth at the controversial 2005 United States Grand Prix (only six cars completed the race after fourteen drivers withdrew on safety grounds).
However earlier this season he lost his race seat to Daniel Ricciardo, when Ricciardo joined up with the team from the Red Bull set-up.
But it has now officially been announced that Karthikeyan will race at the Indian Grand Prix next month and will also drive the HRT on Friday's practice session in Singapore.
“It is great to have Narain back in the car as it will give him critical seat time before he drives at the Indian GP. He is the best driver to come out of the region and is undoubtedly extremely talented as he has proved through his progress this season.” HRT team principal Colin Kolles told formula1.com.
