'If It's F1, It's Vital'

Today Pole, Tomorrow the title for Vettel?

Today Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel clinched pole position, tomorrow the German could clinch back-to-back F1 Championships.

The title leaders time of 1 minute 44.381 seconds was set on his first run in Q3 and it was so good, it was still enough to take his eleventh pole position of the season, while others had a second attempt to knock him off the spot.

One person who didn't have a second crack at pole was McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton, the Brit was placed second after the first run, but a fuel filling problem left Hamilton in the garage watching on helpless as both Mark Webber and Jenson Button beat his time on their second runs.

Ferrari and Fernando Alonso's hopes of delaying Vettel's title celebrations took a knock as the Ferrari's struggled for pace under the lights of Singapore.

Alonso was virtually 1.5seconds off the pace in fifth, with Felipe Massa a fraction behind in sixth.

Mercedes GP driver Nico Rosberg took seventh spot by default as team-mate Michael Schumacher and Force India duo Adrian Sutil and Paul Di Resta didn't run on Q3 opting to save tyres in what has to be the most frustrating consequence of the current regulations regarding tyres!

The earlier sessions were pretty non-eventful, as ever the HRT's, Lotus's and Virgin's were knocked out in Q1, the surprise knock-out was Renault's Vitaly Petrov.

In Q2, Kamui Kobayashi attempted a bit of rallying across the high curb chicane. The Sauber driver soon found out that it wasn't possible, as his car launched into the air and threw him off into the barrier to bring out a red flag. Unfortunately the Japanese driver had yet to set a time so he will start seventeenth.

Bruno Senna in the Renault split the Toro Rosso's, while Perez beat the Williams drivers to the 'best of the rest' spot of eleventh.
