Renault looking to hold on to fifth place

Being thrown in to a Formula One season during the second half of the calender must be a difficult task, but that's the hand that Bruno Senna has been dealt.

When the opportunity arises to race in Formula One, you take it. While the timing might not be ideal, there is no such thing as bad timing in Formula One and that's what Senna has discovered since replacing Nick Heidfeld at Renault.

The Brazilian took the race seat for the first time at Spa and has impressed many with the way he has appeared to be immediately up to speed.

But the former HRT driver believes he still is playing catch-up against the other drivers who all have more experience in regards to the tracks and how the new for 2011 Pirelli tyres perform.

'I'm learning and catching-up with the other drivers on the grid, but they have a considerable amount more experience than I do, and greater knowledge about the tyres too.' he told Renault's official website.

Senna will be looking to continue his form over the final few races, but for him personally and for the team.

With Robert Kubica set to make a decision over his possible return in 2012 next month, Senna will hope to remain well placed for another drive with the team next season if Kubica's recovery is not far enough advanced for a return.

If he can help his team perform in the constructors world championship then that can only help.

Renault are currently fifth in the standings, 44-points behind fourth placed Mercedes and 22-points ahead of Force India.

'We need to stay ahead of the teams behind us, in particular Force India.

'If we can close the gap to Mercedes GP in fourth, that would be a real boost for the team but primarily we must hold on to fifth position and keep the opposition at bay.' Senna added.
