Williams target points finish in Japan

Williams believe they might have finally cracked the issues with their 2011 Formula One car.

Some will wonder what's the point so late in the season, others will be thinking that it is better late than never!

'Our levels of understanding regarding the driveability issues of the FW33 have increased significantly since Singapore and we are currently working hard to optimise the set-up and improve the car going into the Japanese GP. Williams chief operations engineer Mark Gillan told formula1.com.

Williams are so confident that they will be competitive at Suzuka that they are aiming for a top ten finish for both Rubens Barrichello and Pastor Maldonado.

'We obviously need to ensure that the car operates in the optimal aerodynamic window - this is fundamental to maximising our performance and we aim to be fighting for a points finish with both cars.”

Williams are currently ninth in the Formula 1 constructors world championship ahead of only the newbie teams who have failed to pick up points so far this season.

Barrichello has picked up four of Williams five points this season with two ninth place finishes in Monaco and Canada.

The veteran Brazilian is looking forward to returning to Japan and added: 'There is always a good buzz for us there [Japan] and this year it won't be any different with the championship set to be decided in Suzuka once again. I can only hope for points from this weekend.”
