'If It's F1, It's Vital'
Chandhok still uncertain if he will race in India
Karun Chandhok is still hoping that he will be selected to race for Lotus at the first Formula One Indian Grand Prix.
An official decision regarding who will race for Lotus has yet to be made and regular drivers Heikki Kovalainen and Jarno Trulli could well continue their place as the teams drivers on a Sunday.
But Chandhok has been involved in the last three Friday practice sessions in Singapore, Japan and Korea and the Indian driver hopes that will be enough to persuade team principal Tony Fernandes to hand him the opportunity of a life time.
'I've just got to India and it's the question on top of many people's minds here especially in the media - my phone is just going crazy,' Chandhok told Autosport Magazine.
'I wish I had something new to say to the people here but unfortunately it's up to Tony and the team. Tony has said many times recently how personally he would love for me to do the race.
'It's no secret that I would love to do the Indian race - to be on the grid for the first grand prix at home will be a huge honour, I know a lot of people have bought tickets and the Indian media seem excited about the prospect, but it's not up to me.'
27-year-old Chandhok has raced just once since July 2010, which was at this years German Grand Prix when he replaced Jarno Trulli. He finished 20th, two laps behind team-mate Heikki Kovalainen.
