'If It's F1, It's Vital'
Maldonado to suffer grid penalty
Williams driver Pastor Maldonado will suffer a grid penalty in Abu Dhabi.
But unlike the multiple grid penalties in India, this one hasn't been given out for an on track offence.
Unfortunately for the Venezuelan the damage caused to his Cosworth engine following a gearbox failure during the Indian Grand Prix has left him needing an engine change for the next race.
As Maldonado has already used eight engines over the course of the 2011 Formula One World Championship, he will have to switch to a ninth engine which breaks current F1 regulations.
Under the current rules which have been set to lower costs by forcing teams to run with more durable engines, if a driver exceeds his limit of eight engines in a season he will suffer a ten place grid penalty for that race.
The penalty will come into force at the Yas Marina circuit on November 13th.
