'If It's F1, It's Vital'

Whoever adapts quickest will win says Newey

With Formula One's regulations changes for the 2012 season regarding the new exhaust restrictions and engine mapping, Red Bull Racing's technical chief Adrian Newey believes whichever team adapts the quickest will come out victorious.

The regulation alterations will mean that teams will be desperately looking to recover the loss of downforce that the forced alterations to the exhaust will bring.

Whichever teams works out the best solution to get around the changes, perhaps by finding a loophole in the regulations, will have a big advantage over the field, something that Brawn GP and Red Bull have benefited from over recent years.

But while Red Bull have taken back-to-back drivers and constructors championships in 2010 and 2011, Newey still believes that his team can still improve, which has to be a rather ominous thought to the rest of the Formula One paddock.

'All we can do is try and look at our own weaknesses from this year, and try and improve on them, We still had some areas that could be improved upon, but as always it is going to be the development race through the winter. Red Bull's technical chief Adrian Newey told Autosport Magazine.

'We have got some regulation changes - primarily the restriction of exhaust exit position and mapping - which means that the exhaust effect is almost zero now.

'So, everybody will be working to try and recover that lost downforce, and whoever comes up with the best solutions will probably be the winners next year.'
