'If It's F1, It's Vital'
New Year Honours for Mansell & Newey
As we move into 2012, two well known faces in the world of Formula One have been named in the New Year Honours list.
Red Bull's chief technical officer Adrian Newey has been awarded the OBE [Officer of Order of the British Empire] for services to motorsport.
The 53-year-old is roundly thought of as the best Formula One designer of recent years having won championships with both Williams and McLaren, before helping to turn Red Bull into the dominating form they have shown in recent years.
1992 Formula One World Champion Nigel Mansell who had already been awarded the OBE, was awarded the CBE [Commander of the Order of the British Empire] for services to children and young people in his role as president of charity UK Youth.
Mansell has previously raised over £1million for the charity by cycling around the country [1,375 miles] in under two weeks.
He posted on Twitter: 'Thankyou everybody its amazing but just brilliant for UK Youth Charity, So many thousands of people work so hard,Feel very humble and Proud.
Wish you all Happy New Year ,Have a good time and be SAFE.'
