Senna to take Williams seat?

Bruno Senna is being heavily linked with the remaining seat at the Williams Team.

Senna left Lotus [Renault] at the end of last season after the team decided to move forward with 2007 Formula One world champion Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean.

While the Williams Team have yet to confirm who will be partnering Venezuelan Pastor Maldonado at the team.

Maldonado failed to really impress during his debut season in F1 in 2011, but of course does bring a very valuable sponsorship package to the team through the Venezuelan government state-owned PDVSA oil company.

In truth, it's unlikely that Maldonado would have obtained a spot on the grid in Formula One without this backing.

Rubens Barrichello had hoped to remain with the team to go into his 20th season in Formula One, while former Force India driver Adrian Sutil had been the favourite for the seat since the end of last season.

But with all that said, the BBC are reporting that Bruno Senna is the favourite, according to insiders who have spoken with the Beeb.

Senna impressed during the latter part of the 2011 season with Renault and like Maldonado, can also bring sponsorship to the team.

If Senna does take the Williams seat, the options left available to compatriot Barrichello are fairly limited.

There is a seat next to Pedro de la Rosa at HRT, while Caterham [Lotus] are thought to be considering Jarno Trulli's position, however former Renault driver Vitaly Petrov is the front runner for that drive.
