'If It's F1, It's Vital'

Hamilton feels ready for 2012

McLaren driver and former Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton feels that he is prepared for the new season.

The 2008 F1 title winner had a season to forget in 2011.

He spent the majority of time after most races speaking with race stewards after continually being caught up in racing incidents with the likes of Williams driver Pastor Maldonardo and Ferrari rival Felipe Massa.

His feud with Massa somewhat overshadowed his entire season, with race wins forgotten and on track crashes taking the focal point.

Off the track, Hamilton also appeared to struggle, many in the paddock believed he had lost focus following a change in management, while he also broke up with long term girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger.

But at the launch of the new McLaren yesterday, Hamilton revealed that he is feeling fresh ahead of the new season.

Hamilton spent the winter in the United States of America, training in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. But while physical preparation for the new season is key, Hamilton feels he got the balance right.

'I feel very fresh, Whichever issues I had I've worked hard to clarify and make sure I come into this year without any worries.' he said to the BBC.

He added: 'It feels fantastic to be back, I have been training an incredible amount over the winter but just in the right way - I gave myself plenty of time to recover and recuperate.'

With his preparation right, Hamilton also feels that he can turn his poor 2011 world championship into a positive and is working hard to win the world championship again.

'I think I've just matured. I'm 27 now. It's the way you behave, the way you handle yourself, ways you interact with the team.

'There are definitely things I can pay more attention to and work harder on. Most important is focus, to be world champion again.
