Poll: Who will win in Australia? The Result

That's it the time has come, the teams are now unpacked, the cars have turned their first laps in an official session.

The 2012 Formula One season is here.

With the pre-season winter tests not revealing too much, it has been guess work for the media, fans and teams a like to work out what we might expect in Melbourne this weekend.

Everyone expected that Red Bull and McLaren would be the teams to beat once again this season and that is reflected in our poll result which has been running for the past couple of weeks ahead of the new season.

Lewis Hamilton has edged the poll with 28%, while defending F1 Champ Sebastian Vettel is second favourite with 23%. Hamilton's McLaren team-mate Jenson Button is third favourite with 16%, while Mark Webber in his home Grand Prix and Ferrari's Fernando Alono took 10%.

7% have backed Kimi Raikkonen to return to winning ways in his first Grand Prix since his return to Formula One, a result which will be a huge shock to see Lotus take such positive strides from the end of last season.

Who will win the Australian GP?

Lewis Hamilton 28%

Sebastian Vettel 23%

Jenson Button 16%

Mark Webber 10%

Will the users of VitalF1.com be proved correct, or will our rather poor record of predicting the winners continue?

In 2011 we collectively only predicted the correct race winner in 4 out of the 19 races.
