'If It's F1, It's Vital'

Perez doesn't wish to speculate on Ferrari rumours

The rumour mill began early in Australia and now with the circus moving to Malaysia, the talk continues to be surrounding Sergio Perez and his possible move from Sauber to Ferrari.

The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with replacing Felipe Massa by the Italian media, but Perez remains focussed on this season with Sauber.

'They are only rumours. It is only the first race of the season, so its very early to say this or speculate.' Perez told Sky Sports.

'I am very focused with my team, with Sauber, and we have a great car.'

It's widely known that Felipe Massa is probably on his way out of Ferrari having failed to impress last season.

The Brazilian who very nearly clinched the 2008 Formula One World Championship for Ferrari, until a last lap overtake by Lewis Hamilton clinched the title for the Brit has arguably never been the same driver since his accident in qualifying for the 2009 Hungarian Grand Prix.

To save his seat at Ferrari for 2013, he needs to close down the gap between himself and Fernando Alonso in qualifying and during the race, however in Australia, the gap between Massa and his double world champion team mate was as big as ever, with Massa very nearly dropping out of qualifying in Q1.

The two names who are continually linked with Ferrari are Robert Kubica and Sergio Perez.

Kubica is of course still recovering from a rally crash that he was involved in last year, whilst Perez is still very much part Ferrari's Young Driver Programme despite his contract with Sauber, which creates an obvious link with a move to Ferrari for 2013 for the young and exciting Mexican driver.
