'If It's F1, It's Vital'

Button trusts FIA decision over Bahrain

Jenson Button believes that the Formula 1's governing body the FIA are in a far better position to make a decision regarding the hosting of the Bahrain Grand Prix than anyone else.

While there has been a lot of speculation regarding the Formula One teams and drivers position over whether the race should take place this weekend, 2009 Formula One World Champion Jenson Button trusts that the FIA have made the correct to decision to go ahead with the race.

'I trust in the FIA that they know all the information - I don't personally - so we have to trust in their decision.' Button told Sky Sports.

The FIA held a number of fact finding missions to the country, with a number of people involved in Formula One travelling to the region.

They have also held talks with race organisers and various other groups and came to the decision that it was safe for Formula One to return after cancelling the race in 2011.

Security has been stepped up in the roads leading to the Bahrain International Circuit and while some members of the Force India team were caught up in the some trouble around the capital of Manama, there have been no reports of problems involving other members of either the media or other teams.

Button continued: 'I don't think they will ever want to put us at risk. They do a lot on safety for drivers, in terms of the circuits and the cars and what have you, and that's a priority for them.

'So I believe in the FIA's decision.

'If everything is straightforward and nothing happens, it's not even going to be in the back of my mind at all.'

On Tuesday a 5,000-strong group of local people took to the streets for a peaceful pro-democracy protest in a village on the outskirts of the capital Manama, some protesters held banners displaying anti-F1 slogans.
