'If It's F1, It's Vital'

Vettel dreams of joining Ferrari

F1 World champion Sebastian Vettel has revealed that one day he would like the opportunity to drive for Ferrari.

The 23-year-old is constantly being linked with moves to Mercedes to be the long term replacement for Michael Schumacher and has had links to Ferrari.

Vettel usually dismisses the rumours, stating a couple of weeks ago: 'In the off-season there is no wheel-turning, unfortunately, and there are still pages to be filled and stories to be written.” So it’s a tad curious that when most links come with little substance, this time he opts to make positive comments towards a future move.

'Let's put it this way: I love to race, I know motor racing history and I know Ferrari is a legend,' he told Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

'To have your name written among the names of the world champions is special, but having it in the list of the Ferrari drivers would be special too.”

But while he might have admitted that one-day he’d like to drive for them, he was also quick to state he was happy with the team that brought him his first World Championship.

'Yes, it's my dream to race for Maranello one day. However I'm still young, there is time. At the moment I'm happy to be in Red Bull, without them I would have never arrived in F1.'

Fear not Red Bull fans, at 23, a move to Ferrari could still be a decade away!

'He's grown up within the Red Bull family, and hopefully for many years to come.

'Just before he retires he can go to Ferrari, and that could be another 10 years away.'
Red Bull boss Christian Horner joked.
