Sauber reveal Chelsea partnership

During the Chinese and Bahrain Grands Prix the Sauber team have led with a teaser campaign over new sponsor.

Following Perez's second place finish in Malaysia, Sauber agreed a new deal to be unveiled officially at the Spanish Grand Prix.

So the teaser campaign began immediately with 'Out of the Blue' emblazoned across their engine cover in China, while 'True Blue' appeared in Bahrain.

Neither slogan gave away who the new sponsor was with, but Sauber have now unveiled that its a unique deal which sees Sauber partner English Premier League side Chelsea.

'A partnership like this between Formula 1 and Football has never existed before in this form, yet there are numerous commonalities and possible synergies,' Sauber CEO Monisha Kaltenborn told Autosport Magazine.

'In either case we are talking about team sport at the highest - and international - level.

'The Sauber F1 Team and Chelsea FC are dealing with many of the same sporting and commercial topics and we want to strengthen each other in these areas. We are looking forward to exploiting these opportunities, and we congratulate Chelsea on making it to the final of the Champions League.'

The logo 'Welcome Chelsea FC' will appear on Sauber's car at the Mugello test before officially being launched at the Spanish Grand Prix, while Sauber's logo will feature on advertising boards at Chelsea's Stamford Bridge stadium and on interview walls.
