Mixed thoughts on Mugello?

As the first in-season test drew to a close on Thursday, many of the drivers were singing the Italian tracks praises.

The Ferrari owned circuit is a fast track with high speed corners and a pleasure to drive according to most of the drivers who took to the track.

After the first day that was hugely disrupted by rain Fernando Alonso told the media: 'It's a spectacular track and it would be nice to be able to race on it!''

Red Bull's Mark Webber took to Twitter on Tuesday to say: 'Did 10 dry laps today around Mugello, which is the same as doing 1000 laps around Abu Dhabi track in terms of satisfaction.'

While Daniel Ricciardo added: 'Love driving the beast round here. Awesome high speed circuit.'

And Toro Rosso's Jean-Eric Vergne said: 'This is my first ever visit to Mugello and I have to say, despite the weather, I enjoyed my time on the circuit as it is a really fantastic track to drive.

But not all the drivers were pleased with the decision to go to Mugello.

Vitaly Petrov in particular has not been impressed by the track, in particular the safety of the drivers around such a high speed circuit.

'I don't think we should have come here, It is not safe and wide enough.' the Caterham driver told Autosport Magazine.

'If you lose it, the walls are so close and you will smash into the tyres. It is not for Formula 1 and, if you lost the steering or the tyre pressure dropped or whatever, then it will be a big crash.'



Ultimately though Petrov appeared to be the only person going against the grain as the majority of comments were largely complimentary to Mugello.
